4Rs Preschool is a privately owned school which has been operating in the area for over 30 years.
It was organized by Louise Jamison, a former public school teacher. Mrs. Jamison taught first grade for many years, and after retiring she began a “Learning Center” and weekly story time which soon developed into a preschool.
Naming her school would be easy. Mrs. Jamison believed in the value of play as well as an up to date, structured curriculum that together would prepare the children emotionally and intellectually for kindergarten. The 4th R would stand for recreation.
Shortly before the school moved to its present location in Haymarket, Mrs. Jamison retired (again!). Stephanie Peacock, Kim Morrell, and Sandy Rutter are committed to continuing her legacy.
